Leatherman Squirt Ps4

Its awesome, if you are looking for something teeny. Having scissors and pliers on the same tool is nice, though both are very small. The scissors are not nearly as precise as similar Victorinox scissors, but they work. But it packs a lot of utility in a small size, and is not spendy. Maybe just a little too big for keychain carry, but thats up to you.

The original flavor used torx (?) fasteners, whereas newer ones are riveted.

It all depends on what you need - I carry a full sized pliers based multi-tool so I just carry a Squirt S4 for the far superior scissors. Some people carry a Victorinox Classic for the scissors that their main SAK doesn't have, but I really like the Squirt S4 for when I want good scissors and am away from home, I think of them as my tactical folding scissors. But I wouldn't carry my S4 as my only tool, there are too many other tools I sometimes need.

It's the multitool that's always on me and the one that made me break my rule to always carry a Victorinox. I have larger pliers in the truck and at the house if needed, the smaller ones on the Ps4 come in handy as big tweezers for removing staples from my target frames holding small screws when starting them into their holes, cutting the plastic coated wires they use on kids toys now, etc. The scissors are precise enough for cutting hangnails without tearing them. Unlike any small Vic, the 'phillips' driver on the Ps4 also works on my eyeglass screws. The file is agressive enough to do a great job on fingernails.

I have one , in red. I like it but dont carry it often. Mainly because there is no small, flat bladed screwdriver like the one on the Micra and the Squirt P4/S4. That screwdriver fits my eyeglass/sunglass screws perfectly. So I havent warmed up to it much because of this, but HAD to add one to my collection.

I've go mine in my pocket right now.:) As a set of tools they are far better than nothing and make for an excellent back-up to something larger, however I rarely carry it as my one and only MT. Pairs up well with a SAK IMO.

They're better than nothing, but I would rather have a Juice (which I EDC). I guess, if for some reason a Juice is too big, then a Squirt would be ideal.

I carry one daily as the scissors and pliers are the tools I need most often. PS4 fills the bill perfectly. I do carry a folding knife for most cutting duties but the blade on the PS4 will handle small cutting task with ease and is all I carry when wearing a suit.

I used to have a Squirt S4 on my keychain for years (which replaced the Micra), but switched to the PS4. I've contemplated going back to the S4, not for the better scissors, but for the nail file, or specifically the nail cleaning hook. If the Squirts were disassembleable I'd have made myself a Frankensquirt long ago. Actually I'd probably ditch the blade altogether and use both files.

My Squirt PS4 actually saved the day for somebody on Sunday. Next door to my store (pizza place), our neighbor was working late (1am), and his key broke off in the lock. Using the pliers on the PS4, the flathead screwdriver on my SAK, and a push pin with the very tip bent sideways (with him shining my 4Sevens Preon Revo at the lock), I was able to lock his door and extract the broken key. My preparedness saved him locksmith fees, a night spent sleeping in his shop to make sure it didn't get burglarized, and a likely ass-chewing from his boss. And earned me a "thank you" 6-pack of Fat Tire.

It wasn't the first time I "MacGuyvered" a fix for somebody, and definitely won't be the last.

What do you guys think of this multi tool?

Well, to be perfectly honest, I’m trying to like it.

It's predecessors, the P4 and S4 Squirts filled their respective niches very well. Fitted with pliers, the P4 tool set was best suited for small jobs , and the S4 to personal use, such as grooming and the like. I like them both for what each does best. As a mongrel, the PS4 doesn't quite match up.

Although nicely made, the PS4 offers fewer tools for both fixit and personal modes, a file too coarse for finger nails and scissors too small for many purposes, such as mustache trimming and clipping the wife’s toenails :D . Even though they are very sharp, their size compared to those in the S4 much reduces their usefulness.

As a lesser complaint, I would have hoped that if Leatherman were going for a new and improved Squirt, they would have done something about that frustrating P4/S4 bottle opener, my candidate for worst multitool cap lifter, ever.

So far, the PS4 is still in rotation being evaluated, but at this point I’m thinking that Leatherman may have mashed two good designs into a single mediocre one.
