I just received my new Leatherman Style CS in the mail yesterday, and while looking it over, I saw that there were two small holes in the blade next to the nail nick. Does anyone know what they are there for?

This is the Style CS with the blade deployed showing the holes as described above.

i believe they are purely aesthetic, to go along with the handle and the visual appearance of its big brothers the Skeletool and Freestyle.

same reason the spiderco's have the big "thumb hole"... they save you a lot of weight in your pocket. i do not carry any knives that have a full solid blade anymore, just way too heavy. ;):p:D:thumbup:

:edited to point out this is a joke if no one noticed...:

A little off topic, but a quick question, is the blade chisel ground, like the other leatherman keychain tool knives?

Thanks!

The prototypes also had a small OHO hole in place of the nail nick, but it didn't make it to production. Possibly because it was too fiddly or maybe it weakened the blade to much.

Quite why they didn't drop the two little holes at the same time I don't know but, as already suggested, I suspect it's purely an aesthetics thing.
