I was alerted to this beauty over at the general forum:

More info here.
Looks like my Micra will now have a rival .

It's been posted, but haven't seen such a nice close up :)

Looks like a real winner.

Eh I'm not sure about it. Scissors, file, blade, carabiner/bottle opener, tweezers. No drivers? :\

I more or less feel the same way. I think it competes with the 58 mm Victorinox Classic more than it does with the Leatherman Micra or the SOG Crosscut. The Classic and Style both have a nail file with a screwdriver tip and otherwise lack any other drivers or bits.

For me it will be an ideal keychain backup to my ST300. The only downside of the ST300 is the lack of scissors, and the Style CS will fill that role well :)

I'm just not a scissors guy:confused:

But I do have to give them credit for extending the free style/skeletool line of stuff. It's a great set up if you like that sort of thing:)

Since I L-O-V-E my Micra, guess I'm a scissors guy :p.

I think Leatherman has the same public in mind for the CS as they do for the Micra, both tools are pocket scissors with a blade and just a few other satellite features. They're thinking about people like me, that have more need of scissors then pliers and other more heavy duty tools for their EDC. I think of the Micra (and now the CS) as a complementary tool for pocket pliers with all the usual bells & whistles (pliers, drivers, etc). Even when I carry the Micra I'll carry my Kershaw MT because the Micra just can't do it all.

The nail file looks exactly like the way I mod the nail file on the Wenger Esquire. It's a surprisingly useful screwdriver that works on flat and Phillips screws, and is longer than the Vic Classic SD equivalent. If the Style CS works as well as my modded Esquire, I'd say this promises to be a pretty good small multitool.

FWIW, some of the new lineup can be seen here.

Looking at shecky's link, I found this:

Little pliers with scissors?!? Depending on the size this could very well substitute the Micra in my pocket !

I want! BTW...that site can direct my entire paycheck right out of my wallet. All kinds of cool widgets I "need."

I am so down for one, I never liked the "blockiness" of the Micra tool:thumbup:

Most Leathermans, for all their utility, are not overly hand friendly, Micra no exception. My wife is so sensitive on this issue that she won't touch one. When we are out and she wants to borrow my scissors tool, if all I have on me is a Micra, she prefers to do without. OTOH, she likes the Squirt S4 well enough to appropriate mine, which she uses all the time (not that I'm complaining, I like it when she's happy :) )

No doubt the Squirt line has smoother contours, but I still prefer the Micra. After all, I don't EDC these things just to fondle as finger toys (although I manage to do my share :) ), but for the implements. IMHO, these are better executed in the Micra than other keychain-sized multitools on the market. Over years I have occasionally made side by side comparisons with SAK, Squirt and other equivalents doing the same chores. Micra is clearly superior: screwdrivers are longer and sharper, scissors cut better, cap lifter is better, the tweezer is attached and won't get lost, and the handle can be extended if more reach is needed for knife or drivers.

Since I don't expect more than an expedient for small fixes when dedicated tools, or even larger multitools, are not available, I am not overly concerned about how nice this category feels in the hand. Micra does the job best, and I'll go with that.
