This was inspired by the Swiss Army knife key mod, which I tried and found it way too involved with too many modifications. I decided to try it with my $15 Leatherman Style. The process took about 20 minutes and involved only about 4-5 steps. Much better than the SA mod.

I replaced the blade with my car key and retained the scissors and file. Made no sense to keep the blade since I carry a larger one on me anyways.

Take a look:

How did attach the key? It looks wicked cool from a practical standpoint.

Remove the blade, place it over the key and trace the outline and pivot hole. Then drill the hole and use a dremel cutting tool to cut out the outline and shape it.
THen simply insert the key where the blade was on the Leatherman and screw it back together (one screw). I've done this mod on several different multitools and this by far is the easiest and most practical/usable.

The whole build took about 20-30 minutes.

I was thinking about adding my house key to the tool and removing the file and/or scissors part.

Cool mod,but if its attached to your keys doesn't it defeat the purpose?

I guess if you have one carried somewhere else it makes sense. I might do this to one of my bike tools I carry.

No, I usually carry my car key, car alarm remote and leatherman keychain tool. I have basically integrated the car key INTO the leatherman tool and eliminated the car key being alone. I also have the option of integrating a house key so that in one package I have the car key, house key, scissor, and file + car alarm remote.

THe whole reason behind this is that I like to travel light without a bunch of loose stuff in my pockets.

In the picture below, I have the option of adding a house key + another key. So in total, I could have three keys on one small package.
