Hi,

I have had the supertool version of the leatherman for quite some time. The problem is, the tools, knives, etc...are SO TIGHT to get in and out. Plus, the 90 degree lock mechanism, and it being so hard to pull things out, you can almost cut yourself getting the phillips head screw driver out because the knive comes out with it, they are so tightly wedged together.

Anyway, I think you see my point. How can I get these tools to loosen up and come out easier? I tried tuff glide and white lightning, but, didn't help at all.

I saw a man with a Leatherman Wave, and his pliers and tools were really flexible. It must have come that way, because I don't think he knows enough to take the time to make it that way.

My tools are soo stiff. What can be done about this?

TIA,

Lundo

Send it back to Leatherman. There warranty is one of the best.

I had a Leatherman wave that I had for over a year. The tools in the one handle were always tight from the day I bought it. The jaws were loose and my serrated knife blade had been sharpened down to a plain edge. The tips on the needle nose pliers were busted off.
The tool really looked like it had been put though hell.

I'm very hard on my leatherman and it gets uses daily.

Anyway I thought for the price of shipping I was going to send it back to them and see what they would do about it. Two weeks later I had a brand new leatherman wave. The new tool they sent me was great. All the tools were easy to pull out from the handle.

Send it back to leatherman. You will be glad you did. :)

My Supertool 200 is pretty stiff, but I don't think it has had any time to wear in...I use my SOG Powerlock too much! :o :footinmou

Mate, The original Supertool you have was designed
to "wear in" as you wore it out. In other words
it will be very tight at first , get better in
time, stay that way for most of it's useful life
then, finally, be so loose you need to replace it.

My Original Supertool was a bitch at first until
it broke in from use. Finally bent it so bad it
was junk, so I pulled out a new Original Supertool
spare and it was break in time all over. Now after
2 months of hard use it's ok. ;)

I would do three things, 1. replace it with the new super tool 200.
2. use a good oil, I'm in the army so I use CLP on every thing. 3.you have to work it a little, open and close the blades and the pliers multiple times until you feel it getting loose and then put a little more CLP on it. Do this every now and then and before you know it, it will be loose but if you work it to much it will get way to loose.
