Here's a 15 minute operation I performed on a Leatherman Surge to reduce the OEM needle nose pliers to blunt pliers. I did it just as an experiment, and because I like the look. There is some practical benefit as well, depending on one's needs, though the standard needle nose pliers excel at other tasks. MTO member zoidberg, who gave me this idea, uses his blunt Surge as a pounding tool.

Care must be given not to take the operation too far, because its not easy to convert the copious sparks and ash back into steel. Dan Koster EDC fixed blade in background.

It can use a little fine tuning on the edges, which will be done by hand, but I am pleased with the result. The reduced tip allows you get the plier head into tight spaces with less interference, and provides more surface area for grabbing and pulling (e.g., pulling a broken nail from a 2x4).
