Hey guys, i have a few questions for you.

1. I've heard that thr scissors can cut copper wire. Is tis true? How thick? Anything you've found they can't handle?

2. Are there any tools you've broken? How?

3. What can the wire cutters handle?

4. I'm also getting the bit extender and bit kit. I've seen people have issues getting the bits out. Any idea why?

5. Is the sheath durable? My nylon sheatha get wotn out in the corners from getting onto the ground whether its working under a car or fixing a bicycle.

6. Do the knives hold an edge well? I see they're 420HC. Is it as good as bucks?

I giess thats all for now. Thanks guys.

1) They can cut copper wire, but there's no need to. The Surge has wire cutters.

2) Haven't broken anything yet

3) I've cut chain link fence with the wire cutters - no problems

4) don't know

5) I'm not a big fan of nylon sheaths, so I made a leather one for my Surge.

6) Not the best at holding an edge, but really, really easy to sharpen. I've even used the removable diamond file on the Surge to sharpen the plain-edge blade.

I agree with Nothinghappenedtoday and for #3- i've even cut nails with them but i wouldn't do it very often since the blades aren't replacable. i used the cutters alot so i traded off my surge and should be getting a super tool 300 tommorow since i can replace the blades on it. I really like the surge except when you use the blades with some force, the edges of the handles dig in a bit. the non-replacable cutters and edged handles are the only hits i can really give against it.

The small spring on my surge that holds the replaceable bits 'disappeared' - somehow came out of it's place during a job, since there are no purchaseable parts, I will have to send it in for warranty repair. Other than that, besides being wicked heavy, I like mine. The clip is a good investment, and I would recommend purchasing attachments directly from Leatherman, far cheaper than through a B & M distributor.

I got the surge, extender, bitkit and pocket clip for a few dollars over 100.

Was that at a brick & mortar? If so, that's awesome. The stores around here only sell them either as packaged options or seperate with an upcharge. I think I paid $17 for the bit kit and $7, so already I'm over what you paid, but the prices on leatherman.com are better than around where I live for sure.
