Ok, I had a Leatherman Surge for about 2 or 3 years(I think) before it was stolen last January out of my Jeep along with everything else in my pack. I loved that tool. I've been replacing things throughout the year and it's now the Surge's turn. The Leatherman website shows pretty much the same model I had. Thought maybe I'd ask some of y'all that stay up on them, has anything really changed on it?

they're releasing a new version - replaceable wire cutters like the one on the supertool 300/rebar around fall i think. the file/saw holder is also updated so the hardware store t-shanks are now fully compatible (i.e. no wiggle). i think there's more changes but those are the ones i remember off the top of my head...there's plenty more info from multitool.org.

I beat Leatherman to it.

Sounds perfect! I'll have to pick one up when it gets released.
