I really want to do a trade or maybe buy a leatherman surge. Want to know what people think of it? Its heavy but tough I understand but still want to know how well the blade exchanger works with different blades and if its wieght is worth the price? Thanks guys

I had one for awhile. It is a good tool, but be aware that it is a brick. The thing was more than I wanted to edc. I traded it off.

My favorite multitool edc for years has been the Victorinox Swisstool Spirit.

Awesome tool, but big and heavy. Heavy. I also much prefer a real, long-shank 3D phillips driver instead of that 2D stubby thing on the Surge. But overall a great piece of multitool if you can deal with the weight issue.

I had one a yes it was a great tool but way to heavy for me to edc.

Heavy seams to be the number one complaint. The 2d driver is kinda cheesy but I've learned to deal with it. I edc a wave now and don't have anything bad to say. Thanks guys! I have a MUT and I could edc it easy, I work at a hole in the wall gun shop in the getto so I carry a full size glock 22 wvery day along with the wave and a spydie centofonte usually so I've become very desensitized to carry weight. Still curious about the blade exchanger. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

I like mine. It must be older as it does not have the replaceable wire cutters like the one above. Heavy it is I carry it when I think it will be needed. I got mine for $40 on closeout. Have you checked out the Rebar?
By blade exchanger do you mean the saw blade? It works well I keep a Bosh metal cutting gig saw blade in my sheath.

I also have one but dont carry it because of the size. I bought a couple of extra blades for it at a hardware store. They are not as wide as the ones that come with the leatherman so they flop around a little , but still work.

Got mine in 2004, and its still on my belt every work day. I really like that you can use hacksaw blades, so you can even saw metal with it.
I could live without the scissors and the serrated blade, though, I never use those. All in all its a great full size tool
