Not all micra's are created equal.

Here is a photo of two leatherman micra's I have. The one on the left is a little thinner then the one on the right, why?

Maybe everyone already knows this, but I just noticed it tonight. :)

Stormdranes answer isn't right?

The one one on the right has the anodised aluminum scales over the stainless handles.

The the thinner one has the case cut out around the tweezers and the other one has a wider case the goes around the outside of the tweezers.

It's not wider because of the anodised aluminum scales. The one that is not anodised use to be red when I bought it. The red started coming off so I took some paint stripper to it and cleaned the rest of the red off.

Hi,

If you look at your own photo, you'll see that the one on the right has two outer scales.

The one on the left originally was a stainless steel layer with red paint (which you stripped off. The one on the right is a stainless layer (strength) with an over-lasyer of anodized aluminum whish was dyed in a variety of colors.Hence the greater thickness.

There are four basic variations of the Micra:
Stainless handles
Painted stainless handles - At least red, blue & green (maybe black & gray)
Anodized overlay on top of stainless - Red, blue, green, black & gray
Translucent polycabonate overlay on top of stainless - Red, blue & green.

You'll also find some of the Micra scissors stamped USA and some TOOL. Makes for a nifty collecvtion. In case you are wondering, yes., I collect Leatherman stuff. I have 69 tools and 54 of the new knives.. Hope this helps.

Best - Joe

Hey Joe, that's neat. Thanks for pointing out the variations. We have a few of the original stainless steel Micras. I've carried one daily for years. My wife uses her Micra for sewing crafts and carries a Juice S2 on her key ring.
