My old style Leatherman Juice CS4 broke a spring that supports one of the screwdrivers. Years ago the plier portion became hard to work but I got over that. Anyway when the spring broke I figured to take them up on their warranty service. I sent it in and consented to the replace or repair. What I got back was a, to my eyes, gently used but flawed new style Juice cs4. The tip of the can opener is broken off and the cork screw is loose. Now not only is the plier hard to operate but all the impliments are hard to open. I had to use a small metal nail file to open the philips screwdriver.

Is this standard for Leatherman's warranty service? I'm considering sending it back and asking them to try again. Back when I bought the original I knew the whole thing wasn't made in the USA even though it was printed on the item but this new style feels like it's made entirely in Asia and by the lowest bidder.

Has anyone had a similar experience with the warranty service and if so how did you resolve it?

Send it back with a letter explaining the problem. I've sent in a bunch of tools over the years and always received new or at least good refurbished tools in return.

Send it back. I've sent several tools back for warranty/ service and while most times the service was excellent, I had an OHT that I had to send in 3 times. I believe they will get you straight but I would call em and tell them your beef.

Ring them up, or email them and let them have another crack at it. Its possible that the one you got was sent out by mistake, or some other sort of mishap occurred. I don't recall anyone from here having a case that they didn't resolve, and there have been a couple that didn't go 100% on the first try.

I have had solid service from both Leatherman and Buck, although it took two trips on a fix for each one. In both cases, the turnaround time was fast, and one return included an "extra" by way of apology. Both companies were also good for the extra postage. These few repairs took place over a period of decades, as there was seldom a reason to call upon their warranty departments.
Great products, great service.

We have a Leatherman office here in town and when claiming a warranty issue, I have got the replacement in hand over the desk.

No problems and Superb Service!

I've sent two in for repair with no issues. They stand behind their product, and I'm staying with them🙂
