I am looking to purchase a Leatherman wave and TWO Of the best locking multi-tools going around. Can anyone (I prefer to give a small dealer my money instead of a large operation) guide me in the direction of which multi-tool with locking components is the finest. I already want a replacement Wave certainly, and am quite interested in the SOG multi-tools. One of the locking ones will be with me on the beach surfcasting, I know how to take care of them don't worry. This site has turned out to be so gigantic I can hardly believe it. I visit infrequently but have been with this site since it's inception. Thanks for all the help guys.

p.s. THere is a matter of payment to a man whom I bought knives from a few months ago. I still owe you money and lost your e-mail pls e-mail me and I shall send out the money. Also if anyone can quote me a deal on all three I will purchase quickly, I want these in a week or so. Thanks again for the time.

Definitely get one of the gerber 600 series. I've been abusing one since they came out and its still in great shape.
Its bigger and built more like a real pair of pliars than the wave is. I use mine alot for heavy stuff and haven't been disapointed yet. If you gbet the tool kit with it, it will seem like a lot of weight compared to your wave, but in most cases you'll appreciate the extra leverage and strength. Not to mention every single tool locks into place, including the plairs. YOu just give them a flip wiht your wrist and they slide open and lock, no folding up on you in a tight spot like a leathman does sometimes.

I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer... but I've got the sharpest knife in the room.

The large SOG Power Plier is my favourite for all around use, but, if you prefer one hand access to the blades, go with the Wave.

The Wave is always a good choice. Versatile and comfortable. Also consider the Victorinox Swiss-Tool. Rugged and very well made.

I'm with CD completely.

Leatherman sent me a Pulse recently. It is a good deal lighter and smaller than the others mentioned. There are definitely times a smaller tool comes in handy.

The Swisstool is bigger than your Wave, but with some awesome features, such as the fact that all the tools are available with the tool still closed, and the non-clumping action.

The *new* Supertool is one I might consider instead of the Swisstool. It's about the same size as the Swisstool. It does not have the externally-accessible non-clumping tools like the Swisstool does. But the tools are better-finished than the Swisstool's, and it has a true needlenose pliers, if you favor true needlenose. Note that I don't feel the old-style Supertool competes favorably with the Swisstool.

I don't know if you guys have Target stores in your area, but here in my town the Leatheman Pulse is on sale for $39.99. I think it's a good deal considering what others charge for it.
