local law says you can only carry a 2 1/2" blade, i think the wave (i know it's about a 3" blade) makes a good low profile sheelpe defense knife as it is a tool rather than a knife. the clip point blade opens easily and fast and in an open top pouch it draws quickly, any thoughts or comments, a 4" blade here (akron, OH) will get you a CCW charge. any one carry with the same thing in mind ? thanks.

Here is an article that you might find of interest ;

I've got a wave and there is no way it will deploy fast enough for SD. I would stay out of the bad parts of Akron and carry what I want. Are you sure of the wording of the law? Concealed is usually one issue and legal carry is another.

i live in a surrounding area and they don't have any defined blade length limit so they defer to the nearest city, but they will still charge CCW. in the waistband is considered CCW, i guess your pocket would be the same, if you wore it in a belt pouch you SHOULD be ok, they don't understand you having a defensive item, i don't know whether they would accept a wave as a tool rather then as a weapon. my new wave opens very easily and i carry it in an open top pouch so it draws pretty fast, no worse then a tac folder on the pocket. being a tool and carried in a pouch on the belt hopefully they would let it slide, once you went to court for cutting someone would be a different story... :eek:

this is the kind of pouch i'm talking about, fold the flap in and instant iwb open top pouch, it will hold the knife tight as long as your not doing somersalts. pretty smooth draw, position the wave so the clip point blade is under your thumb for the draw.

thanks for the link to that article, theres some good points there, i always have a 6C maglite in the car and my wave either clipped in my pocket or in the pouch, the maglite makes a good baton, you should always carry some OC too but many of the cannisters are awkward to carry, the small ones are good but i like to have plenty of spray if i need it. alot of foriegn countries are crazy about CCW, you can't hardly carry anything.

pjhead ,

Arizona where I live any weapon knife or gun is legal carry ( except goverment buildings , banks , bars and where posted ) as long as a portion of it is exposed . I have had a debate or two with law enforcement types in regards to belt buckle knives . Technically the weapon is exposed though by design it is possibly concealed because it is hard to recognize as a weapon . One that I wear everyday is the Bowen belt knife ;

With a Bowen one end of the wearers belt is actually the sheath for the knife . It winds up serving three functions , it is a knife , it is a belt buckle , it is a bottle opener .

Another for you to look at would be ;

then there are fast draw knife sheaths that will accomadate a variety of folders .

The above might be of consideration for your desire .
