I have decided that it's time for me to get a new multi-tool as my leatherman juice is what you can say in sub-par condition. I'm stuck between the wave and the super tool 300. The multi-tool will be used for edc tasks, camping, and whatever task that may require needle nose pliers. Also I'm getting them in the black-oxide version.

Get the wave. The super tool 300 is just too darn heavy. The wave will be able to do everything that you need it to do for edc, camping, and everything else you can think of. I've had mine for over 8 years now and it's still holding up like a champ! It gets everything I need done, done; plus more!

Good point. What I really like are the replaceable wire cutters on the super tool and you can sharpen them too. That's a huge plus for me, but I have to take into account the large size of the Supertool. Only if they had a wave with super tool style pliers  Hopefully more people can chime in so I can make a decision.

EDIT:

Occasionally I also do a lot of DIY mods and things for various hobbies. From what I've read, the wave is a better edc'er, but the Supertool 300 is more solid and reliable-- I haven't come across any major issues regarding the super tool from the reviews I've seen. @Flipper98, have you every had any issues with your wave? Wobbly parts, blade play, etc?

Well I was contemplating a similar multitool purchase, tried out the Leatherman series at a store and hated the fit and finish and how pulling out the tools had no smoothness to it and they would all get pulled out at the same time.

Then I tried the Victorinox Swisstool RS ... its in an entirely different league, a beautiful and finely made tool. Made the Leatherman seem neolithic.

I bought the Victorinox ..... you owe it to yourself to at least try one out in a store, can't see you going back to Leatherman after.

I fully aware of the Swisstools and their superior fit and finish. However, they are a bit more expensive and I'm not a huge of its high polish finish. I'm not willing to spend over $80 for a multitool right now so at the moment I'm just looking at leatherman models. You still brought up a good point though.

Well if you like the replaceable wire cutters look at the leatherman rebar. It's the same exact thing as the st300 but its the size of the wave.
Here's a link where you can compare the st300, wave, and rebar to each other:
http://www.leatherman.com/compare/Military/LE/Super Tool 300 Black
Just select the wave and the rebar and then you can compare!
And there is a little play in the handles, but like I said, I've had my wave for over 8 years.

Haha someone mentioned the rebar already. Honestly the size of the ST300 doesn't affect me as I won't be carrying this in my pocket or on my belt. It would be in my backpack if I were to bring it with me or simply I would carry it in the hand for edc tasks in the house.

EDIT:

I really would like to hear some responses to ST300 owners and how they think the ST300 feels in hand. Do you think its too bulky of a multi-tool or does it feel fine?

Well if your going to have it in your backpack then I would say get the st300. But you have to remember that the st300 has no accessible blades from the outside, but the wave does. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Go ahead and try the Victorinox, but I like the Leatherman Charge Ti. It's expensive, yes, but if you use it a lot it really is worth the extra $$$. The blade is S30V and the other tools are well designed and thought out. It is a bit heavy, but I wore mine every day with a Fenix flashlight and a Cold Steel 5-inch bladed Gunsite and had no problems. It's also gorgeous. If weight's an issue, go with another model. But get the best steel you can.

I'm getting the multitool mostly for the tools, not the blade since I already have knives for that purpose. So as long as the steel can hold a okay edge, blade material isn't a major issue for me. I still will put the charge into consideration before I pull the gun, but so far I'm leaning on the ST300

Both are great tools.
I find the wave to be more useful do to its scissors, exchangeable bits and accessories you can add to it.
I really only pull the 300 out for the heavy work or to cut wire I think the wave can't handle. Which is barely ever. So the 300 doesn't get much use. It spends its life oiled up sitting in my knife chest while the wave or charge get all the use/carry.

If your going to be EDCing it I would recommend the wave or charge as it has more tools, its lighter, and is less cumbersome.

You'll like which ever one you pick, as both are great tools. I just feel the wave is more versatile.

May as well post here. My Wave is very very stiff. I can't get the scissors out at all without another multi-tool. Any ideas? Thanks.

FWIW I've owned both the 300 and the wave and I would have to give the nod to the st300 for two reasons. One being as you mentioned, the replaceable blades for the cutter and two the extra reach you get from the screwdrivers. Wave bits have no reach
