IIRC, the sheepsfoot with serration was the only option when it came out almost 2 decades ago, there are many version since then(spear point, double blade, rescue blade)Leatherman, I think. I am pretty sure it is more affordable, and it has a non-serrated blade. I am not fond of serrated blades.
I think the Victorinox only has a single serrated sheepsfoot-ish blade? Or is that one of the other models?

In that case, may I recommend the new Spirit MX to you? It's basically a Spirit X but with one hand opening blade. I have a MXBS version, but am so looking forward to get a MX myself.I have owned multiples of each. Currently have one Spirit and two Wave+'s (and a Surge).
The **ONLY** thing that the Leatherman has going for it is the one handed opening. In my opinion, the Victorinox Spirirt is far better quality, more robust, more comfortable in hand, tools open without clumping together, tools are more functional, and overall more well built. I plan on purchasing a few more Spirits.

The Wave has a better file, better saw, serrated blade, replaceable wire cutter, and glass screwdrivers. It also has better scissors that open wider.I have owned multiples of each. Currently have one Spirit and two Wave+'s (and a Surge).

Completely agree. The scissors on the spirit is way worse than on the big SAK, for example the Huntsman's.The other issue it has is the pants-on-head stupid design of the scissor spring, which actually restricts the scissors from opening wide enough to do any real work, and also prevents you from being able to resharpen the scissors. It's amazing how Victorinox could make such a dumb mistake when they've been making the best compact scissors in the world for far longer than anyone alive can remember.
Yeah, the Spirit now has one hand opening and a removable pocket clip.
...but it still doesn't have replaceable wire cutters. That's a huge problem for a tool which is as expensive as the Spirit is.

I'm already familiar with this modification. I saw a topic about it over at the MT .org forum.I think the scissors are very popular the way they are.
Two useful videos about how to widen and sharpen them:

To me this is not acceptable. You have to void your warranty by bending the spring up and grinding away part of the back of the scissors just to get them to open wide enough to actually be useful.
I'm also already very familiar with Felix Immler's channel, and I've seen that other video before. Keep in mind that he's sharpening different style scissors in that video, although it is still good information in general when discussing how scissors work and what mistakes to avoid when sharpening them.
