Thinking of buying a Leatherman wave off E-bay but have heard stories of reconditioned wave's has anyone ever bought one off E-bay or could anyone recommend a seller also how can I tell the new version from the older version

When buying on e-Bay you should study the feedback carefully and let that be your guide as to whether or not the person is reliable. If they have at least 50 positives and no negs you can probably trust them.

I won't buy from anybody with less than a 99 percent rating unless there are special circumstances.

If they have a lot of feedback they may get a few negs.....you have to read them all and evaluate what they were for and how the seller responded.

You can usually pick a reliable seller if you try.

I rarely buy with anything except a credit card through Paypal......that way you can always do a chargeback through your cc company if all else fails.

Someone might unwittingly sell a reconditioned Wave, so you have to be careful no matter what the buyer's rep might be.........be safe--use a credit card.
