I'm not sure if this idea has ever been kicked around, but it would be really helpful if there was a rule enacted requiring that asking prices be left in threads after the item sells so that other users could use the pricing for reference.

I know there have been many times that I have wondered what something is going for on the Exchange, but all of the threads have the prices deleted after the item is sold. The item should still be marked sold, but leaving the asking price up would be nice.

I think it would be helpful, hopefully you mods will agree, Thanks.

It has been hashed and rehashed.

Look, I've said it before and I'll say it again - it's up to the person who posted the knife for sale as to whether or not they want to leave the price in there after it's sold.

Personally, I feel that basing selling prices on what's sold where in the past is a poor idea - let the market dictate. If you don't want to buy something at a price, don't point to someone's 5 month old post and say "But XXX sold it for $50 cheaper!" and expect anything other than a hearty "F You!" from the seller.

I hate micromanging. I hate stepping in anywhere where I don't have to. Guys, just chill out already. This certainly doesn't need to be an issue... and regardless, it's not like we can do anything about it. If someone chooses to delete sale prices out of their thread, that's their choice. Again, it's my humble opinion that you shouldn't refer to old posts for current sales.

Mods, we don't need a hard & fast rule on this, other than let the sellers do what they want with regards for their own sales. We already have rules in place for other situations.

Kicked, clubbed, macerated, pummeled, beaten, whipped, flagellated, and set on fire.

So many people feel so strongly about both sides of the issue that there is no prospect of ever coming to agreement.
