LED light on wheaties

Last night I was surfing through Triple-Aughts awesome web page and saw a LED light that looked like a maglite solitaire. It claimed to have more brightness than a photon microlight (which I'm sure it does-runs on a AA battery and is 3inches long). It came in amber or red. Anyone have experience with these?

Also, I am considering purchasing a Photon II microlight but can't decide on which color. I need it for night ops and thought about either green or red. I've only seen white.
Any infor is appreciated. Thanks.

I am not familiar with the first light you were talking about, sorry.

I currently have 4 colors of photons IIs. The red, yellow, white , and torquise. The yellow and red are probably my favorites. The yellow is nice and bright and is what I use for general purpose usage, it floats aound free in my pocket with a couple spares in my emergency gear, usually my change pocket. The red is attached to my SAK and is the best for signalling and for use when you do not want your night vision destroyed. The trorquise is on my house keychain and the white is on my work keychain and one in my first aid kit, it is the best for when you want to see true colors when working on wiring and such.

I haven't seen what's at Triple Aught, but lights as you describe -- converted from Maglite Solitaire -- are available here:
http://rocketleads.com/hts/index.htm

Go to the bottom of the page and click on page 2. Down that page you'll find a number of solitaire conversions, including the new GX4 which is the brightest yet.

To get an idea of how bright these lights are in comparison with other LED lights, check out this great page:

Also, go to http://www.ccrane.com . They have some LED light for sale. Even ones that are powered by modified Baygen windup radios. Light and music, WHAT A CONCEPT!!!

I think Cesar is talking about the CMG Infinity light that Patrick has on his site. I bought one locally recently and like it a lot. Mine unfortunately doesn't have the knurling around the switch the way the one at Triple Aught does. I also don't really think that it is brighter than a Photon II. I always have a White Photon or suped up Green Photon on my person. The CMG is not as bright as either one. It is plenty bright though for doing most routine tasks. The real plus come when it is time to replace batteries. ~$1 vs. ~$6. I think the CMG is a good value, especially if you use your Photons or Sapphire lights a lot.

I just got a PAL Gold from Freemon and they are even better.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I really liked the mag lite solitaires that had been converted to LED's. Kind of expensive but I think I may purchase one. Does anyone have experience with them?

Paul, do you have any problem with the battery rattling in your CMG when it is turned off? Someone on another forum posted the suggestion of putting an o-ring in the bottom (?) of the tube to prevent the rattle.

Outlawrockdogspyderboy,
The battery does rattle around a little bit in the CMG Infinity. I was a little worried about it until I realized I could only hear it if I held it up next to my ear and shook it. I can't hear it in my pocket at all. So I'm OK as long as I don't shake it near my ear!

The thing I like about the photon lights is their small size. I keep a red and a turquoise on my keyring, and they're always handy for when I need them

I agree the most attractive thing about the photons is thier size, no other light i have found puts out as much light for the size. I find myself on any given day carrying 3 or 4 of them for different purposes because they are so small. I used to carry a maglight solitare but it was bulky compared to these things.
