Is the Mag LED Upgrade Better than the NiteIze Version? The Mag is about double the price. Thanks!

I have the night eyes one that I got from target, and you know, it's really not that bad. I like it mainly because of the button switch on the bottom, and it just really lights up the place.

For 8 bucks, why not.

I bought the Nite-ize for the 4 cell D/C mag and it was well worth the moneyif your looknin' for a spot that can throw a beam for 1/4 mile, it has a little bit of overspill so it's a spot flood and with the an adjustable focus it's a nice alternative.

The Nite Ize conversion for the AA doesn't work. At least it didn't for me. I couldn't get it to turn on, so I searched here and on other sites and found some trouble shooting guides. I then got it working after screwing around with it for a while. The next day, I tried it again and it didn't work. Other people have had some success with it, but I found a lot of information about how to fix them when they didn't work, so I suspect it happens a lot.

The AA Nite-Ize got my old Mini-Mag out of the drawer and in use again, so I think it was worth it.

I have a AA Nite-Ize conversion (with tailcap switch), but I've never tried the official Mag conversion. I like the Nite-Ize system except that the switch is a little finicky. The mag head has to be unscrewed a little to work (just like before it had a toggle switch), but the tailcap has to be unscrewed a bit for continuous mode to be enabled. Overall, it ends up leaving everything feeling very loose and I don't like to literally have to screw around with everything just to get it to stay lit.

With that said, I don't have the packaging or instructions anymore so I can't say if that's the way it's supposed to work. It's a definite upgrade from the factory bulb, with more brightness and longevity. The AA Mags are so cheap that I wouldn't bother paying near what the light cost just for the official conversion when the Nite-Ize version is nice enough.
