Does anyone know if Surefire has plans to come out with an LED version of the G2? I don't follow flashlight news and announcements very closely.

Are there any other lights that would have the same qualities - lighter, yellow rubberized handle, LED, runs on 123 batteries?

Thanks.

Well, the KL5 fits the G2 Nitrolon (the KL3 fits the other G2 models), but at that price ($140), you might as well just get an L4 or L2...or just a bunch of replacement lamps for the G2.

I don't know of any other rubberized bodies with that kind of power, but there may be something out there. For aluminum though, check out the Nuwaii Quantum III for an ultra compact sinlge cell 123 light with great grip. The 3 watt luxeon LED with a reflector delivers a beautiful even white beam. There's a CPF group buy going on where you can get one for a great price.

Or try ElectroLumens for an X2 if he has any left. That's a two cell light with a 3 watt luxeon and reflector for a very punchy white beam. The fit and finish weren't quite as niceas the Nuwaii product but still very nice and reasonably priced. The listing was under his shopping cart and was hard to find.

i'm with Peter on this.
i don't know of any Nitrolon-type bodied lights that run on CR123's.

there are a couple rubberish-bodied lights that run on other battery types tho. check out this light that Quickbeam reviewed: http://flashlightreviews4.home.att.net/reviews/ht_hte-1.htm one ugly mutherfunker but it's a great light. and it runs on lithium AA's so it'll be pretty light.

you could always get a metal-bodied light and wrap it with hockey-tape or a bicycle tube.

Edit:
maybe someone can clarify, but do you think a an EverLED will run in a Surefire G2?

Everled will not, unless you mod it with a PR base and reflector. KL3 and KL5 fit, but the KL5 might overheat

You probly wont see a high powered plastic light as it would overheat the led.

Ah hah...I see. I didn't know that LEDs were susceptible to heat. I assume that the metal-bodied lights serve as a kind of heat sink then. That would explain it.

I'll take a look at the lights mentioned by the other gents above.

The G2 Nitrolon WILL accept the KL-3 head. The same G2 converted to a rechargeable (KR 1- BK Conversion Kit) will accept the KL- 3 head as well. I have this setup on both of mine.

G2- $35, Conversion Kit $80, KL- 3 Head $62

A good versatile package. You can find these seperate or as a kit on the secondary market for considerably less.
