Which Kershaw Leek would choose? Is there any other Leek that you'd pick over these and why?

Thanks in advance.

Both are easily purchased so they are even there. What are you going to be doing with the knife? The CB Leek is solid.....CPM-D2 is great stuff but the handle on this one can get a little slick when wet. I have grip tape on mine for this very reason. The S30v/G-10 Leek is better if you're using it wet as the G-10 is really grippy. The locks are different with the CB Leek being a frame lock and the S30v Leek being a liner lock. Personal preference will guide you there.

I really don't think you'll notice too much difference between the steels (CPM-D2 and S30V). Both are done very well by Kershaw.

Both are good choices.......it just depends on what you're going to be doing with it.

I swapped blades in those models and now carry a D2/G-10 Leek :)

Yea... me too. Looks pretty cool, and I like the grip w/ the G10.

Thanks!

This is going to be my light duty folder for in house tasks (opening blister packs, boxes, cutting wires, duct tape and cloth) and occasionally for general camping chores, cutting beer cans and food prep (no batoning!). So I'm looking for good edge retention, moderate rust resistance and reasonable easy of sharpening. I'm not going to pry with this knife nor any other type of abusive use. I have a ZT0300 and some Busse fixed blades for that...

I would go with the CB leek its overall better IMO.

In my experience with my Spydercos CPM D2 takes a better edge and retains it longer than S30V. It could be because my CPM D2 Military is 62 RC (I'm not sure how hard Kershaw runs their CPM D2) vs. the 59 RC of my S30V Spydercos, but either way I have come to love the ease of sharpening and great edges that CPM D2 gives you. It is plenty rust resistant as well, it has never had any issues with rust inthe 2 years or so I've had the knife. Based solely on the steel I would recommend the CB Leek.

Nice frankenleek :)

I don't have a CPM-D2 model but hear it's good stuff. I do have several others including the G-10 version, the G10-S30V is a favorite- light and very grippy, sometimes the steel handles can be a tad slippery. I'm thinking a G-10 damascus frankenleek might be fun for kicks.
