Been on a Leek kick lately and want to pick up a higher end one to try it out so.....Which one would you choose?img1530mz.jpg417199_10150579019170458_590860457_9400786_1485543447_n.jpg Leaning slightly towards the composite, but I really like the G-10....and yes I will buy both someday but right now I can only afford one.....HELP!

G10/s30v-

That way you get nice scales AND good steel.

You may be able to find an older one with polished g10 and satin rubbed blade.

Having owned both (past tense, I now only have the blade from the G10 version in a stonewashed framelock, my personal favorite), I would go with the Composite again. It's cheaper, the CPM-D2 should have much higher edge retention (according to Jankerson's post, I didn't use mine enough to notice), and I'm not a fan of the aesthetics of the G10 version. The handle is thicker than your normal framelock leek, so it looks a little weird with the incredibly thin blade. Also, the G10 has no sculpting to speak of, so it's sort of blocky in my hands. The linerlock on my G10 leek was very thin and easy to disengage, which might concern some people, but I never used it for anything beyond light duty so it was an issue for me.

I do love the stonewash on the G10 Leek's blade, I will give it that. Leek's are so addictive that you'll probably end up with both anyway.

Composites you can get for almost half the price of the G10s..and I love the look and feel of the composite blade. I see 1660CBS going for around $40 all the time on the bay.

I have them both. The composite one gets carried a lot. The G-10 one is just way too thick for such a small knife and the liner lock sticks badly.

Also the CPM D2 holds a better edge IMO.

S30V, the D-2 steel breaks too easily (the tip likes to come off). It's definately stronger than the regular 14C, but not as strong as the S30V. D-2 also rusts a lot worse than the S30V.

I like the S30V for the stonewash, shows its age and use very well. The G-10 is way more tactile/grippy. Ya its a lil thick, I like the liner lock better than the frame lock actually.

I got a G-10 and sold my composite, but only cause my tyrade replaced the composite leek.

In the scene of things the G-10 alone is more rare on the leeks then the steel frame lock, I think that alone adds a lil something.

I have the G10 S30V and like it a lot. The G10 on it has a pretty rough texture. It is more rough than most of my other knives with G10. The grip is very secure with it. I really like the stone washed finish on the blade too. My vote goes to G10 S30V.

Misanthropia, can you post up a pic of yours now that it is finished? For those that care, I swapped him the stainless handle from my CB Leek for his G10 handle, and rehandled my CB, loving it.

OP, I have both, if you have larger hands you will likely prefer the size of the G10, I like both blades about the same, just prefer the CB for most tasks. Hope that helps.

I'll snap some good pictures this afternoon and get them up here. My apartment isn't exactly the best place to show off how good it looks :D

Got some admittedly quite bad pictures of the frankenstoneleek this afternoon, I really need to get a dedicated camera:
