Leek frame lock

Ive been thinking about buying a leek. Do some leeks have a linerlock while others are frame lock? If so why is this? It seems like you would want a line of knives to share the same design plus the frame lock would be stronger than a liner lock.

Most are framelocks, I believe.

The G-10/S30v is a liner lock though.

haha^^

He who cannot be named

I had to get in my 3 Leek pics, before HE showed up. Nobody can follow up after him. :D:D

Any idea why the S30V model is a linerlock instead of a frame lock? I mean it has the g10 grips and great steel for the blade so why not add the frame lock for the extra strength. That would be a sweet knife

:p you guys are funny

I would say it's a pretty even split between framelocks and liner locks. Framelocks include the regular silver steel, black DLC coated steel, titanium, rainbow, gold, gray DLC coated steel. Liner locks include G10 varieties and a ton of Leeks with aluminum scales (prints, smokes, solid colors).

You can get a framelock with the S30V steel blade but only in the tanto version (1660TGRYST). There are a few discontinued tantos that were framelocks and also had the S30V steel. I don't believe there is a regular bladed framelock Leek that has had the S30V steel. I made my own though...and this is where I realize I should have uploaded the pics for it a while ago :( Other people (can't remember who) have also taken the 1660G10, replaced the locking side with a framelock from either a 1660 or 1660CKT and then you have the grip, the framelock, the S30V blade. Pretty good combination

Anyway for some examples, here are some framelocks

The messed up part is the only Leeks I see in person I never like, only the one's He-Who-Cannot-Be-Named has interest me.

I just wish they would have put some "teeth" in the frame lock models as maybe it's just me but I find they are sometimes a little slippery to close unlike the liner locks that for some reason my thumb "grabs" better.

Perhaps you would prefer a CRKT Eros. I'm sure the suggestion will drive Leek Freak nuts. ;)
