Leek grinding issues.

So I have a Damascus Leek and a s30v Leek. When I first got the Damascus Leek I swapped the handles for the G-10 from the s30v Leek as I felt it was a better match.

So recently I decided that I wanted to use the locking stainless handle coupled with one of the G-10 handles on my Damascus Leek just for some variety. Well after assembly and some tweaking of the pivot it worked great... for while. After about 10 openings and closings the blade began to grind on... something.

It barely opened and felt like there was something stuck between the spacers and the liner. So I took the whole thing apart, cleaned it and put it back together. Again same thing. It worked for awhile and then started grinding.

Then following the old computer adage of "when it doubt, reboot" I reset all the pieces back into their original constructions. The Damask blade in the SS handles, and the s30v blade in the G-10 handles. Same problem again with the SS handles.

I then went through and eliminated things pieces by piece by slowly introducing pieces from the s30v Leek into the Damask Leek. I figured it has to be the locking SS liner that is the problem but I have no idea what the problem is.

Any ideas? Should I just send it back to Kershaw? I don't want to loose the Damascus blade and I'm not sure what their policy is on repair/replacement of defective items. I don't want to end up with a comparable product, I really love the Damascus blade.
