Leek Lock---liner Or Frame?

I gave my girlfriend a Rainbow Leek for Christmas, and liked it so much I almost took it back! Now I want one for me, but a matching pair seems redundant. I want one with the frame-lock. I know the new s30v models are liner lock, but what about the other TiNi colors like black and gold? Any clarification would be appreciated.

The principle of the lock is the same. If I understand the terms, the lock is called a liner lock if the piece that swings behind the blade to lock it open, is a piece inside the handle but separate from that handle ie: a liner. Like the s30v Leek.
If the piece that moves behind the blade is the actual side of the knife, it is a frame lock, Like the Rainbow Leek.

Look into the CK&T Random Leek, S30V with a reverse tanto blade.

Further to Leek locks: The black TiNi is a frame lock, like the Rainbow.

Exactly! You need steel for the lock, which is a spring! So aluminum and G10 won't work. That's why they have the steel liners/locks.

Aluminum will work. The Buck Mayo Northshore is an aluminum framelock.

Likewise, you can have a G-10 framelock. The scale is G-10, but the lock side is just the titanium frame with no G-10 scale on that side (like the Strider SMF).

I have both a TiNi aluminum scaled version with a liner lock and the stainless framelock. The stainless framelock was cheaper and I like it better, I think WalMart carries them for $39.00.

Don't get me wrong they're both quality knives but the simpler yet functional design of the stainless version amazes me. Some people say they're harder to grip , but I use it for light duty work.
