I just got this baby and I love almost everything about it with one exception.....the G-10 scales are too rough. These scales are so.....grabby that it is actually difficult to pull it out of my back pocket. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm thinking of sanding these down a bit.

You are right , but what a grip , I love the course G10. You would probably like the Polished G10 better, especially if you wear dress pants when you carry. You can still get one of the limited edition polished G10 models they show up on the Bay from time to time, model # 1660PGT .

Yea....I wear khakis....and it sounds like velcro when I take this thing out of my pocket. I think I can sand the scales down myself. I think I'll go somewhere between what it is now and smooth.

This is my fav EDC. Buy disposable particle respirators, some protective glasses and sand to your favorite smoothness... or roughness. No need to get the limited edition (you don't have to listen to me.... I have both :D :D :D )

Nice....which one do you like better?

The g-10 s30v leek is my primary go-to fishing knife, it only seems to get more grippy when wet; mine is the standard, unpolished version. Went fishing on the Caney Fork several times this week, always carry at least one decent fixed blade and the leek. Some of my shorts are starting to show wear, as the scales are grippy- but I'd rather deal with that than a lost knife :)

I have had this knife for about 2 months, and being my first Kershaw, I am very impressed. The scales were very rough at first, but either I have become accustomed to them or they have worn just a little. They still have plenty of grip, but do not feel as harsh on my pants. I am very hard on knives, and this is a great edc. Also, the price was aweome (50+s/h) from the bay.

I like the standard rough G10 for edc. I favor grip over smoothness. Like said above... they will (somewhat) smooth out a little.

Use a little fine grit sandpaper on the G10 where it meets the pocket clip. Go slow. You can always take more off but you can't put more back on. Works great.

that's exactly why i got rid of mine.
i really like the leek design, but that g10 was just a bit too hard on the pants.

I just got the polished G10 version this past week, you can find them on ebay. It's still pretty grippy even when wet, and it's gentle on my pants. Nice knife. And the polished G10 is really surprisingly pretty. I'm not kidding.

I'm not gonna go there.

On the other hand, I like the rough texture of the G10 on the Leek.
Some of my BM's are pretty slick now because of use. If they had
started out a little rougher they probably would still be grippy now.

Some people! Sheesh. :)

Oh textured G10 definitely gives you a better grip. (The one other knife I have with G10 is a ZT0200, and that thing isn't slipping out of my hand, ever.)
