Leek Torsion bar Snaped, send it in or just get the new bar?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum but not exactly. A buddy of mine is a member and posted pictures of my Leek because the blade was bent and I wanted to know if you guys had any ideas on how to straighten it out. Well this one is a little more serious. My much loved assisted opening no longer works because the torsion bar snapped. My buddy told me that someone else on the forums sent their knife in and Kershaw's whoop ass customer service just fixed it and sent it back. Which sounded great but I did a quick search and found that they can just send me the torsion bars, which I would perfer both because I could still have my knife and also because its less of a shipping expense on them. But I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience just getting the bar? I have opened my knife to clean/lube it many times so I'm not worried about that. I was just suprised because I called to order a new blade cuz mine is bent and starting to rub the side but they required me to send the knife in for that one. Also, another quick question, does anyone know if the torsion bar in the chive is the same size as the leek bar? I am in the process of ordering this Kershaw 1600CKT and I wanted to know if the bar would work for that too in case I had a similar problem. Thanks guys.

I would send it back. They will make sure everything is right. THANK YOU! Kevin

That sounds good but I am also moving so I'd have to deal with getting that figured out, in terms of where it goes to. Plus that is my only knife and I am so used to carrying it around that I would need to wait for my Chive to come in before I sent it out. But I'll keep that in mind, anyone else have any ideas?

Well, I'd advise having another knife to carry before you send it off. I assume it still works fine manually. Kershaw will deal with it, but it might take a couple weeks. If you just need another torsion bar, yes, they will send you one. They might send you a few. They stand behind their products, so whatever you do, you don't have to worry.

I've never disassembled a chive, so I don't know if it uses the same bar or not. I would assume not, since the blade weight is different.

If they sent out a new blade because a customer complains the blade is rubbing that likely wouldn't fix it -- likely the pivot is misaligned, or maybe it's the handle that's bent -- they can't tell until they see it.

The broken spring is different; you can pop in the new spring yourself and it'll be fine. If you send it back they'll sharpen it and buff it up while they've at it, but you probably don't care about that; you just want your knife working ASAP.

I called and asked for a replacement bar and they sent me 2 in under a week!
