Mine keeps weakening over time. I have already replaced the spring once after it broke during opening, and now it's getting weaker again.

Is the Leek just not a knife I can flick open repeatedly in a short time frame [I play with my knives a lot]?

If it makes a difference the actual model number is 1660CKTST. So, the framelock variety.

I've had no problems with my Blur or Burst yet though...

Just for giggles, add a drop of oil to the pivot and see if that helps. A sticky pivot might mimic a weak spring. I just bought a beater Leek which would not open all of the way under its own spring tension, and a drop of Ballistol on the pivot cured it. Just a thought before proceeding further. Good luck.

You should be able to open it a billion times without issue. I know I have.

Lint, dirt, and other gunk in the pivot can also gum up the opening/closing. Try cleaning it out and adding a drop of oil. If you don't want to disassemble the whole thing, just open and close it several times in warm, mildly soapy water.

If you're about to replace the torsion bar, you might as well try disassembling the whole thing to clean it now.

Repeatedly opening and closing it in a short amount of time will absolutely lead to premature failure. Doing so heats up the tortion bar. When you heat it up enough, it makes a small crack in it, which is the weakening you feel. After this happens it is only a matter of time before it breaks. If used properly, it will last around 10,000 openings as per Kershaw. Opening and closing it a few times here and there is acceptable and won't do a whole lot. I know it is hard to restrain, thats why i try to only open and close my manual Kershaws/ ZT's reapeatedly I.E. R.A.M, Zing, 0550, 0561. Hope this helps.

the other thing is that you can make a lot of difference in performance by properly adjusting not only the pivot, but the scale screws are critical not to tighten, I usually turn them until they are tight then back it off a touch. Pivot should only be tight enough to stop blade play , no more.

Ya what Kershaw guy said. From the box leeks seem to vary in opening speeds. Ill barely loosen my pivot and it opens much stronger.

I never thought of the screws on the scales, but it makes sense that they would add pressure just like the pivot screw. I leaned something today!
