I've had a leek sitting in the closet a while. I was looking at some review threads here and was suprised to see it was made in the good old U S of A . For some reason I thought it was not, but looked on the blade and there it was. Where are the scallion and chive made?

The majority of Kershaw knives are American made. They have some lines from Japan, and a small selection from China, But primarily USA.

My Chive was China made, as I read on the box AFTER I bought it (too late). Maybe that's why I wasn't so sad when I lost it. Since then, I look for the words "MADE IN THE USA" on the blade. I had the chance to see two Scallions side by side (one USA made & the other in China) & you can see differences between them: in the first the finish is better & it has details like the place where you put your thumb (with little serrations to improve grip) that the "chinese" hasn't. If you are not sure about the origin, ask to see the box of the knife: The US made has the flag printed on it.

:) I got my Leek last weekend. I asked the lady in the store if she would cut open the blister pack so I could see the blade. She asked if it was made in the USA was I going to buy the knife? I said yup, she did, it did, I did. Nice knife.

The only other Kershaw that I own(beside the leek) is a Vapor 2 that I bought after reading a thread here a couple years ago. I tried to find the made in Japan models but was too late and the only ones available were made in China. I have seen a China made Chive thats why I posted this. I'm thinking about getting a Scallion for myself and some Chives for Xmas presents IF they're made in the USA.

All Kershaw Speedsafe - assisted opening knives are made in the USA.

Perhaps the "china" scallions are a copy ??

My scallion says made in the USA. I've never looked before, but its not unexpected, seeing how good the quality of that little thing is.

I just bought a Chive at Wal-Mart. It was manufactured in Aug. 04, and has no printing on the blade. However, I looked at the box before I bought it, and it has "Made in U.S.A." on the bottom edge. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

I lost my plain edged Leek many months ago. It was the first folder I bought after I started getting interested in better quality pocket knives. I still miss it at times. Great knife for the price.

Shalom,
Mark
