Hello, maybe you guys could help me out. I picked up two Leeks, one 1660 with date Dec 06 & one all black 1660CKT with date Mar 06. My question is what steel is the blades. I was told they were Sandvik 13C26 which I prefered, I thought that they didn't come out until this year. Did I get different steels? Thanks, Gary

Sorry to report that they are not 13C26. EBAY sellers are coping the new data sheets and leading a lot of people to believe they are getting the new steels....:jerkit:

Here is the straight scoop as of 6-11-07.

Mike,
Unfortunately we have don't have an accurate time frame for that change-over to happen. It will hopefully be in July, but we also thought it may have been as early as last month. If you want you can certainly check back in with me and I can try to get more accurate date(s). There are definitely a lot of you out there eagerly anticipating the 13C26!
Thank you!

Ebay I can understand, but what about Grand Prairie Knives (gpknives.com)? Their website says that they have Leeks (as well as some others) in 13C26.

Even Kershaws web site lists the steel as the Sandvik.

But they haven't shipped any in the new steel yet. Thomas has promised to let us know the new 'born on' dates that have the new steel.
