Bought a Sharpmaker a few weeks ago. Just fantastic. Tonight I went over a few knives in the ole' collection. Let's just say I should probabley shave the right arm as well, just to even things out :D

Welcome to the club. You'll know you are really into it when you move to your legs because your arms are bare. :D

This issue is seriously my least favorite thing about my knife problem, and yet I can't stop doing it.

Left arm = Bald
Right arm = Patchy
Left leg = Bald
Right leg = Patchy

Just when you think that your hair will grow back in time you WILL have someone ask you "Can you make this knife shave like yours?"

Baldy -

Isn't that Sharpmaker a great, easy to use machine? And isn't it fun putting an edge on a blade that is sharper than the one that came from the factory?

Have you been over to the "Toolshed" forum? That's were the "sharp" folks hang out. I think it is sort of a zen thing when you really get into sharpening. You transform into an alternative universe for a little while, great fun.

There a curse that affects all good sharpeners you know.

Friends, relatives (like the dragon lady), and neighbors start coming by with boxes of metal things to sharpen or pestering to get her kitchen knives touched up. Of course you can always extract some liquid refreshments, etc. for you sharpening skills.

I've started shaving my leg when I'm on the toliet.

I don't think you want to go there!

Well maybe that's the best place to go.

Whenever you travel on an airplane, travel with a bald patch on your forearm. then we would be able to identify eachother. A secret code for belonging to a member of knife culture.

Belly hair works pretty well too. Of course the first time I tried it, I had to explain the thin red cut on my gut to my wife. Needless to say, she just rolled her eyes and headed for another room.

I used to test out knives by shaving, but now I just have confidence enough in my methods. I'll test again if I get a new knife- maybe a different geometry or steel- but on ones I know, I don't need to.

I just poked out my mind's eye with a sharp stick . . .
(whittled with my Ritter Grip :D )

I bet you'll try it sooner or later.:D

I got my sharpmaker on Monday, and I too have patches missing from both arms and both legs. Even my POS beater, 3 year old CRKT got ridiculously sharp on my first try, I am definately a believer in the sharpmaker now.
