Do any of you ever feel left behind by the knife industry?
15 years ago, I anxiously awaited new catalogs to see what was coming out. I loved most of the new designs and couldn't wait to see more. These days, I see most of the new offerings and yawn. The knife world seems to have moved away from the things that I like.
I prefer tip down carry, but it seems that the majority of new designs are tip up.
I prefer straight-ish blades, but most new knives either seem to have a recurve or lots of belly.
I prefer liner locks and axis locks, but it seems most new knives are frame locks, compression locks, or tri-ads.
Most of my favorite designs are 7-15 years old, and I don't find any new knives all that terribly appealing.
Some of my favorites are the Benchmade AFCK 800, Benchmade AFCK 806, CRKT Carson M4, Buck Odyssey, Gerber Specter, Gerber SL 3.25, Al Mar Shrike, Spyderco Viele, CRKT Viele Wasp....
Does anyone else feel left behind?
