After much searching I was able to find and purchase a new left hand Umnumzaan with S35v according to its birthday card. My knife does not have "made in Idaho" stamped on either handle. Is this because my much rarer left hand version may have been produced using older handles, even though it was born in February 2012, or is it intrinsic to the LH ones? Do any of the other leftys of recent vintage have "Made in Idaho"? Do you think this should matter to me for any reason?

Also - S35 vs S30. Can I tell for sure which steel it is without disassembling the knife? Online pictures make it look like the S or V markings are hidden behind the scale. True?

Thanks - am just getting to know the knife and it is great. Yes, there is technique to opening the blade without ripping your thumb apart. Practice and possible breaking in seems to have solved it for me.
