Does any other left handers use the right hand Military without problems?I am wondering if the cutout is problematic for left hand users unlocking inadvertently.Yes, I do know there is lefty versions.Just wondering.

Its the only knife I carry. I have no problems with the standard version or the frame lock version. I rotate throught the lefty and 4 sprints. The size of the handle and the generous cutout on the non locking side allow for use with either hand.

i agree with RIZ!,i am a southpaw too,and there is no problem in handling a "right hand" version of the Military.in fact,i rotate PM2's and a few Military's,but if i may give a sugestion try the Caribbean, you won't be dissapointed,it is a phenomenal knife!

The knife is a bit large for me but as a lefty, i had no issues with it. In fact, we lefties are pretty adept at adapting to a right handed world.

If the size isn't an issue, snag one, you'll like it.

Leftys who learn right handed knives instantly make every knife amidextrious.

This is why the pm2 has become my favorite model. (between the manix 2, para3 and millie)
A Medical condition inhibits my right hand from closing the Manix, so even though the it's ambidextrious. Unfortunatley its Not for me:D

Fortunatley the Compression lock is so easy to use I can use it with both left and right hand.

Thanks for all your input.I just wondered if the large cutout caused any problems.I guess you guys answered my questions. Thanks!

I've read reports of right-handers inadvertently unlocking the standard Military under "white-knuckle" use, but it seems fairly rare and it's not something I've ever really worried about. Whether using a righty Military in the left hand or vice versa makes this more likely to happen is an interesting question.

I'm left-handed and sold off my righty Militaries. Same with my righty Para 2's. I'm fairly ambidexterous, but decided to stick with the lefty models Sal was kind enough to manufacture for the 10%. Just personal preference I guess, but the reluctance of lefties to buy the left-hand models is still puzzling to me.

Most lefties start with right handed knives, So it's familiar. That and steel choices. Nothing wrong with s-30v, but we have so many better choices with the standard production.

I do appreciate that spyderco looks out for the 10%. But in some cases (like the pm2) I feel it is unnecessary.

Curious if you're saying this as a lefty who has tried the left-hand comp lock? If they only made the lefty pm2 in bd1, it would still my choice. The only downside is it makes not want to buy other righty comp lock (and liner lock) knives lol. Guess that saves me some coin though.

Had my Military for many, many years. I'm a lefty and have not once had it close unintentionally, not even close.

I am a lefty, But I have not used a left hand compression lock. I get very set in my ways and the first comp lock I used was an s110v pm2. It pinched me a few times but I quickly got used to it. I love knives and steel, but again I am set in my ways. The standard compression lock feels totally natural to me. The pm2, para 3 and yojimbo2 are one in the same in lock function. I like that.

The millie. My gripe with the standard military in either hand is tip down. I hate it! (set in my ways) So I modify right hand models.

I have an s110v millie and want a rex-45. I'll mod both at the same time.

I guess I'm the odd man out as I prefer tip down. When I pull the knife out my hand seems to fall naturally into place.Maybe because I have smaller hands.

You arent the odd man out. On a larger knife I dont mind the tip down config. As you said, the Military just rotates right into my hand with the thumbhole in just the right spot.
