Hey Guys,

I'm left handed and I currently carry an Emerson cqc8 jungle. Now obviously its right handed so I sent it back to Emerson and they put the clip on the other side for me for left side carry. So far Its a good knife.

My questions for you fellow lefties out there, how do you find the lefty commander or cqc7? do you prefer the lefty emersons? or do you just use right handed versions?

Basically I'm torn, do I sell my right handed knife and get a lefty or do I just use what I have, Am I missing out ?

I'm a lefty, we'll sort of. I write left handed anyway. I train with my knives in my left hand, off gun side, and I carry my pistol on my right side. This is the method taught to me by my instrutors, which works great for me. The reasoning is that you are closer with your lead hand and nothing needs to occupy your gun hand but you gun.

Basically, I take a traditional stance in fighting/shooting/knife by keeping my left foot forward as my lead foot and my off gun hand is also leading in front of my right hand. I use right handed models in the field and in training.

I take the right side clip and carry the knife with the blade facing forward so the wave hooks the front of my pocket and not the back as if it were carried in the right pocket. With practice, I can do this flawlessly now where I have the knife in an ice pick grip. My prespective is coming from the knife being used in a defensive roll and not an EDC roll.

IMHO you only get a benefit of closing the knife a little easier with a true lefty model. But I'm am in no hurry to do that. I'm sure other lefts will chime in and help you out.

The 8 is a beautiful blade and the jungle model is my favorite one. Great pick

I a Lefty, Left Handed, Southpaw, or WRONG Handed. I own (2) CQC-7 Lefthanded Versions, and Have a Left Haned Commander on the way that should arrive in the am tomarrow. All have Serrations, and I like the SEVENS, and had to have the Commander because I had the money for it.

Most of the models function just as well left or right handed, but some of them are not too good for lefties, even with the clip moved. The A100 and CQC7 for example don't really offer much room to get to the thumb disk left handed (I am talking about right hand versions of course). Just look at pics from both sides before you decide on a model. This is not a big deal if you primarily "wave" the knife open.

Thankyou Gents,

I have decided to sell my cqc8 jungle cheap and put the money towards a lefty Emerson. While The cqc8 works fine for me I feel that I would enjoy using a knife designed for me more and for my uses something abit smaller would be better, the cqc 8 is a big knife!

I appreciate the feedback.

One cool thing for you lefties using standard knives is that Emerson's chisel edge will be indexed properly for you.
