I'm interested in either the CQC-7 or Commander with the wave feature, but everything I've seen is right-handed. Does Emerson make a left-handed version of either of these knives?

Any information would be much appreciated.

They make the Commander, CQC-7, and SARK in left handed versions. They are only available from Emerson directly. Check out their sight www.emersonknives.com If you go through the custom shop, any knife is available as a lefty.

Zzzen_Dog,
You might also want to check the for sale forums, that's where I got my leftie Commander from. As far as the c/p shop goes
I ordered a leftie commander with ti- bolsters over a year ago and haven't gotten it yet.

If you want to do a 7, consider getting a regular RHS 7, then
1) get a machine shop to drill and tap 3 holes to transfer the clip to the opposite side (or just get another clip and make it ambidex.)

2) take a small dowel and sandpaper and gently sand out a slight scoop in the side of the scale to allow better access to the thumb wheel.

If you intend to use a gorilla grip on the 7, you might find that a RH grip on a RH knife (or a LH grip on a LH knife) might tend to unlatch the lock a little bit. I have found this with my knife. I can grip it so this doesn't happen, but I cannot gurantee that I can do it under stress... ;-) However, I have also noticed that I absolutely *cannot* make the lock unlatch when I grip it in my left hand in any manner. Since I am ambidextrous (meaning, equally clumsy with either hand) I am considering the above mods to shift my 7 to the left pocket.

Then, there will be room for a mini-c...

In the past I have done one of two things:

1. Buy direct from EKI

2. Have a local machine shop drill and tap the off side. Usualla $10 - $15 one day job

Z- Dog: Urban Hart is very good. I got a SARK and CQC7 left hand through them. They are lower priced than Emmerson factory. Urban Hart service was excellennt. I would use them again
