Left-handed SAKs?

I have a rather old Wenger Toolchest that I picked up when I was a kid in the mid/late-80's at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) in Toronto at a special pavillion that was highlighting Switzerland that year. I was wandering around looking at the tourist info and such and noticed a Wenger booth with a bunch of SAKs. Not having heard of Wenger (Victorinox had a much bigger commercial presence at the time) I wandered over to look. To my delight I found not only the largest SAK that they had there at a sale price, it was a left-handed version! Bought it on the spot. A few minutes later I found the Victorinox booth but I already had spent my cash and couldn't pick up the Swiss Champ with SOS that was on sale.

Many years later in '96 when I went backpacking around Europe I stopped by multiple shops in Lucerne and couldn't find another left-handed version and surprised quite a few of the owners when I showed them mine when they stated that left-handed models didn't exist. (got a free engraving on mine out of it at one shop)

Anyways, onto my question. Does anybody know any of the history behind the left-handed models and if there are any currently available? Much obliged.

The locks on the Victorinox 111mm models are all effectively left handed, whether slide or liner lock. As a lefty I've found most of the models to be very lefty friendly...

Interesting.

What I have on my Toolchest is a mirror image of the normal Toolchest. The tools are oriented in the reverse direction. For example, the corkscrew spiral is reversed, etc.

There's also a little symbol on the scale that shows a stick-figure from the waist up with the left arm out to denote that it's a left-handed knife.

Wenger did offer a whole series in left handed version. At least five of them from what I can remember. I have no idea if they still make them though, or if they were hard to find. As far as I know it was only Wenger, and not Victorinox that made them.
