Left Handed Sebenza 25?

After my weekend trip to visit a knife store that actually sold all of the knives I've been intensely researching for months, it became instantly apparent that I must own a Chris Reeve knife. I don't have any interest in the step stones or any of that business- I now know exactly what I want. The one hiccup in the whole thing is that, like a surprisingly large percentage of blade forums apparently, I am left handed. I handled a Sebenza 21 and an Umnumzaan- neither were left handed, so I would have to order one though. After looking around a bit, I think the Sebenza 25 is the best of both world and I think I'd most like to make that my first CRK. So, my question is are there plans to produce left handed 25s? I'm just learning about CRK, but is the plan for the 25 to phase out the 21 or is it a special edition? Thanks for the help and if there is anything I'm missing please let me know!

Better not be. I'm still waiting for the left handed CF Large 21 to be produced. So the 21 best not be going anywhere.

Based on a conversation I had with Heather last Dec, the large lefty is indeed officially in the works. It should arrive mid to late 2013. If anyone has any fresh info about lefty or small 25's feel free to post.

Thanks for the information! I really like the looks of the 25, but I suppose that means I'll just have to buy a 21... and then buy a 25 later.

Not a lefty, but chiming in anyway. I LOVE the 25 - it's an awesome blade. However, if I had to choose only one, and what I would recommend to anyone for a first, is a large micarta 21 traditional or insingo blade.

They are available right now in a left handed version.

The umnumzaan is also great, but save that one for your 3rd or 4th CRK!

What, this old thing?

Seems like pretty solid advice! I'm leaning towards now 21 large traditional with the all TI frame (I really like the grippiness and classic look), then maybe a large 25 when they are available, then a small insigno with some form of inlay, then the umnumzaan. I really like the umnumzaan, but the more research I do, the smarter a sebenza seems as my first CRK. I love seeing the ease they can be broken down, cleaned, and reassembled in addition to all the other things wonderful things that I noted when I first picked one up.

Last year I checked in with CRK several times about when they expect large, lefty CF 21s to be produced and the answer was consistently a vague 5-6 months down the line. Eventually I gave up and bought a scale by Barry H. that is very nice. After owning and using that aftermarket scale, I've actually come to prefer the original ti version. Something about the heft, balance and aesthetics of the all ti knives just appeals to me though I would have though I'd prefer a lighter weight EDC.

Production? Or was that one of the initial numbered high polish CF?

Or did I just miss them completely on KA? I called up CRK and they said they have no idea when large leftys will be out.

I got it about a year ago from KA. It's not numbered, but I do think it is one of a very few or possibly the only cf lefty from CRK. I hounded that site for months and called a few times as well. Right after I made the purchase, the site read: "out of stock". I was lucky to grab her.

Yep, that is basically the answer I got from them. Well actually I received a much more vague, "we have no idea". Ha, so hopefully it is still on their list to produce. I do dig the small full Ti, but having a lightweight large would be nice.

Has to be a few out there (i'd think), but yours is the only I've seen. Maybe they did a small run of them when they first came out. You may have gotten quite lucky on that.

Well, it's been almost a year and a half since the last comment on this thread. Does anyone have any additional insight as to when the lefty Sebenza 25 will exist?

By the way - Left handedness:It is said that 10% of people are left handed. I really wonder and suspect (assuming that is accurate) if the number of left handed knife enthusiasts is greater than 10%. Have there ever been any polls or studies? Wouldn't that be interesting if left handedness made us more prone to this interest? A sinister thought!
