Left handed Spyderco Military issues

So I recently got a leftie Military. I love it. It's awesome. Good size, good feel, good everything EXCEPT... deploying the blade feels awful. It feels gritty and not smooth at all. I've owned several other Spydercos and have never had this problem. I've loosened the pivot and worked it back and forth a lot but neither has seemed to help much. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can take it apart.. BUT that will void the warranty, all my military's with issues were at the pivot caused by the threads of the pocket clip in the liner itself. making a "volcano" around the threads of the 3 pocket clip screw threads inside the liner of the knife facing the inside of the pivot. the "volcano" was making the washers uneven and rough feeling. I sanded mind down. no more grit, bad blade center or blade play. I hope that helps some!

Ha tried pocket clip screws, loosened them. Honestly it made it worse and now the lock won't even egage properly... this is weird.

no problem, xjzhx and good luck! I have also seen a video on this same problem with a spyderco paramilitary 2 on the "tube". I used a dremel and a metal disk head bit.

the volcano I encountered was around the pivot area of the liner inside the knife itself on the pocket clip side. you have to take the knife apart. its not the pocket clip screws, its the tap out area where the screw threads into. I don't know if that helps much. the blade should lock up better once the the bumps are sanded down though.

look up " spyderco paramilitary 2 blade play removal " by baxaraf on "tube" that shows the problem area

Send it back. A knife like the Military should not have those issues.
