Lefthanded clip on a chinook?

I just got a chinook love the knife but been lefthanded i would like to have the pocket clip on the left side of the knife.
is this something that spiderco can do for me?
if not who could or can i just buy a lefthanded clip and do it myself?

I'm not familiar with the Chinook, but if Spyderco doesn't do that, I'm sure that any tool and die shop would be able to if you didn't have the equipment to do it yourself. I would guess it would just require unscrewing the current clip, marking the hole pattern on the opposite side, then drilling and tapping the new holes, and you'd be all set. Pretty easy if you know what you are doing, pretty easy to really mess up your knife if you don't.
 
the bend in the righthand clip keeps me from just swapping it over to the other side.
don't know if i can get a lefthanded clip that fits a chinook?

Didn't know that it wasn't able to be swapped. I have yet to see one as my shops around here are VERY slow to stock Spydies

Have you thought of just getting another clip for it? I don't think you would have to use a Chinook clip would you? I imagine if you found one with a hole pattern that would fit on it and drilled/tapped to fit that clip you would be good to go.
 
Yes your right i just need a lefthanded clip.
it would be nice to hear from spiderco on this.

Just give their 800 number a hollar and ask the warranty/repair crew. That's probably your best bet. If you don't have it/can't find it I will try to find it for ya unless somebody puts it up here by then.
 
Hi Lonegunman. Understand the problem. We're working on a dedicated clip for the Chinook that will service 4 positions (up/down/left/right).

By the time the design is finished and the tooling is completed, is still many months off.

At this time, we're too busy to try to handle custom modifications. However, you can get a Starmate clip from SFO and have someone drill and tap the scales for you. It's not a perfect fit, but it will work. Make sure that they tap into the steel liner and not just the G10.
