Lefties...

As a lefty myself, I understand the economics behind the lack of left handed knives. I also can adapt to virtually any right handed knife pretty easily so it isnt much of an issue either way.

That being said, I do own a left handed CRK Sebenza and really treasure it.

I'd love to see some other left handed options from Spyderco, a left handed Sprint run would be really cool.

I have 2 lefty Para2's and Millies.

Adaptability always comes up, and it's true for me as well, but I REALLY appreciate the left hand models Spyderco made for the 10%. :)

Unfortunately from what I've seen, the prospect for more looks unlikely. The biggest obstacle making them uneconomic may not be that there aren't enough lefty knife knuts, but that enough lefties aren't actually buying them. I don't have any hard data, but I feel like I've seen too many comments to that effect for various reasons.

IMO, using a right handed comp lock in the left hand vs. using the lefty version really isn't a comparable experience (same with liner/frame locks,) but I guess a lot of folks disagree.

Since the tooling exists, I hope there's a chance that we could eventually see a sprint or exclusive batch with say 800 righty and 200 lefty pieces made. Realistically though, I'd put that chance somewhere between slim and none if the production left-hand models aren't moving.

That's a great take. I agree that it isn't likely at all but a really sexy left handed might sell better than regular left handed knives, but then again, maybe not.

I am left-handed, and Spyderco’s standard implementation of the compression lock works great for me. When I am ready to to close the knife, I put my pointer finger into the Spyder hole to keep the blade from swinging closed. I then push the tab with my thumb and guide the blade halfway closed with my pointer finger. I move my other fingers out of the blade path, and finish closing the blade with my thumb in the hole. It sounds complicated to describe, but it is very smooth and natural for me to do. I actually hadn't used a compression lock for years, until just recently, and it came right back to me.

I have to say that I think Spyderco does the best job of any manufacturer in considering lefties. Almost all their models are set up for ambidextrous carry and most of their lock types can easily be used in either hand.

I exclusively carry Militaries and I am left handed. I have only one lefty military and a bunch of standard and sprint runs. The lefty is great, but I have adapted to the righty versions just fine. If I could get a lefty sprint I would be over the moon! Doubt it will ever happen though

Fortunately, I'm ambi.

I shoot and write left handed but bat and use a knife w/my right hand.

This makes for a very useful SD combo because I can choose to use either a gun or a knife as a primary weapon and have the other still accessible available for use w/the other hand if necessary, which was more important when I was an active duty LEO but still useful when I carry both.

I also don't have to bother changing the clip placement on any knife in order to accommodate left hand use.

Learning to use a right handed knife left handed makes it ambi.

Your left hand (if dominant) is coordinated enough to figure out how to use it. And it’s easier to close with your right hand being it’s right handed.

If it were left handed I don’t think it would be easy to figure it out right handed (non dominant)

Button locks would fix all this though.

With long guns, I greatly prefer left handed models. It is nice to be able use it as was intended instead of having to adapt.

With knives, I mostly stick with mid/back locks and swap the clip around. I don't have much of any issues with frame or liner locks, but the compression lock doesn't work for me. I have a PM2, but rarely carry it for this reason.

The standard compression lock on my Para2 (DigiCam, DLC blade) works easily for me. I have the lefty version as well. I also have the lefty Millie, both the original sprint and the newer one with the improvements. However, I so admire the fluted titanium Millie and the KW S90v CF/Ti model that I actually carry those two more often than the lefty Millie. My dexterity has become a bit compromised by arthritis, but I can still operate those two fairly well. My dream would be something like the KW S90v model with the frame lock, but in lefty. I realize this is very, VERY unlikely. But I can dream, can't I? I also join those who envision a Millie2 with a compression lock and a 4-way clip.
