I was planning to buy my boss a WH CF Lancet for his retirement. Done deal, but I learned today that he's a lefty. Are left handed versions available, or could anyone recommend a nice, similar, gent's folder?

He's not a knife guy, but should be if you know what I mean. Need something small, relatively affordable, with lots of style. Thanks! sR

Sorry, no Left Handed WH's; I wish. :(

I really can't think of anything.

BM Axis locks and Spydercos are OK and CRKs are too expensive.

That's a tough one.

You can get your boss a nice damascus Boker for about the price of a William Henry. It is a two hander but it is a nice knife. Similarly, you could buy a Queen/Schatt & Morgan knife with ATS-34 blades for under $100 if you look. These are two handers also but they are nice.
At the risk of being an ad, you can find these at gpknives.com

Actually, the William Henry Global series are left-handed compatible. I have three with the wood inlay handles and they are very nice knives.

Now, they have also came out with a larger global series with a 3.5" blade.

Check them out on Knifecenter.com or Knifeart.com.

Daniel,

The William Henry Global series are right handed frame locks like the Sebenza; hardly Left Handed compatible.

Yes, they are right-handed with a dual thumb stud that is "compatible" although not left-handed exclusively.

I have learned to accept the fact that the majority of the kifemaking world refuses to recognize our 15% minority in their designs, although I prefer a "true" left handed design.

Yes, I feel that all knives should be available in a left-handed version, but I do not think that it is going to happen- so an accesible dual thumb stud or disk will work for the lack of a true lefty.

I stand corrected Rgray, I cannot think of any true left-handed nice gents folders.

Could I suggest a couple web vendors? World Knives:
http://worldknives.com/

and Cutlery to Go:
http://www.cutlerytogo.com/

Both have quite a selection of European knives. Many are in the same price range as the WH knives. Or cheaper. I can't spell it correctly, but the Laguoile knives of France are cool, as are the Navarros of Spain. I like some of the Italian knives as well. Somewhere, I have a link to a European vendor of primarily European knives. If I can find it, will come back and edit in a URL.

Also, A.G. Russell has some damascus slip joints for reasonable sums. Boker is worth a look, as well as Bulldog -- say something in pearl -- and some of the better slip joint manufacturers -- Schatt&Morgan; Eye Brand; Hen & Rooster, and a couple other German firms, in addition to Boker, as previously mentioned.

I also want to check for another link to some absolutely cool little fixed blades. I know your boss isn't a knife person, but these, if available are so cool, they're small, come with a nice leather case and cost $100. Again, if I find them, I'll be back to edit.

Well, found the European vendor, Courty et Fils:
http://www.couteaux-courty.com/indexenglish.html

Also, the little fixed blade -- not folder -- I mentioned, is the "Mini Ivory" by Arno Bernard, for sale at Blade Art. It is so cool, and they are in stock:

Good luck,

Thanks, guys. I actually have been looking at the AG Russell lockbacks. I'm torn between the damascus and the 4" plain with Chinese burl. I'm not sure that he would take care of damascus...

Oh well, no WH for the boss! I'll buy myself some little treat with the savings! Thanks again. sR
