As a lefty, I find that most knives are set-up for right-handed people. I am new to the Knife hobby, but haven't found any but Benchmade Axis lock knives that carry well as a left-hander.

Lockbacks with holes, dual thumbstuds and disks, knives with axis-lock and arc-lock. They are all totally ambidextrous. If the clip is multipositioned, you hit the jackpot.

Most spyderco and Benchmade knives are already drilled for left-hand carry. I carry a Benchmade 5000 as my EDC and I can't recommend it highly enough.

There is also a guy who goes by the name "STR" here that does some excellent work, and if you find a knife that is right-handed only, he should be able to drill and tap a pocket clip for a lefty for you.

The Ritter Mini-grip CAn be carried left handed. Also, Spyderco's D'Allara DP makes an EXCELLENT left handed EDC. ( I have heard from lefties that they love the D'Allara DP.) CRK makes left handed Sebenza's.

All of the Spyderco Lockbacks, and the Spyderco Ball-bearing-lock folders are lefty-friendly.

All Bali-song knives are lefty-friendly.

All Opinel style folders are lefty-friendly.

SOG folders with the Arc-lock are also lefty-friendly.

As a lefty my EDC right now is a spyderco Chinook II, the handle, grip, ambidextrous opening and, 4 position clip make it really practical. Overal, Spyderco and Benchmade are very suitable for lefties needs not to mention most other high quaility brands such as Emerson etc.

It took a while and a few cuts but I learned to carry and use my knives right handed. Back in the early days (integrated clip) there weren't many options if you wanted to use a clip.
Now I'm knife ambidextrous. ;)

Lefty here.

BM Mini Grip
Spyderco Dragonfly
Gerber LST Jr. (no pocket clip)
and a D'allara slated for May.

The Mini Grip is available in D2 from Cabelas.

Without reading any post in here, just by the main line i say:

Buy a Griptilian!

BTW, the german speaking forum now, besides the FAQ has a part called FGA (frequently given answers).

"Take a Griptilian" is one of the most given answers.

Fun aside, it really is a great knife, worth a deeper look.

I'm so left handed it's pitiful. I have used a Buck 110/112 with a bandit for years. Recently I tried a Griptilian and it works great too. I have also used a Spyderco Police, but I bought the lefty version that's no longer produced. Of current offerings, I would recommend a Benchmade, I really like the Griptilian.

as a lefty, heres what i do...

learn to use knives with my right hand

it opens up a lot more options as to which knives you can own

I'm also a "lefty" (for over 51 years), and I haven't found any folders that I like better than Benchmade Axis-locks, with my 805/805s and 721s as my two favorites..
