Brous, Benchmade, Marlowe, Thorburn, ZT, Spyderco, etc.
Question
Are CRK knives worth the $500 in left handed ?
Thanks Geno

I am a lefty and some considerations you probably already know:
Benchmade is mostly an ambi design so it really works well for left handed people
Protech makes a left handed specific auto
Microtech dual edge blades are pretty much ambi
ZT with the internal frame lock (please correct my terminology here BFers, I am still learning the various locks) like the 0770 is ambi

Alot of manufacturers have lefty models or a design that can be used both ways. In reference to CRK, the worth is pretty much up to you.

You can also learn to carry right handed, I am doing that now so I can carry both ways.

Welcome to BFC!!!!!
Yes, the left handed Sebenza is worth the money.
And so is the Umnumzaan, 25, Inkosi,Mnandi, CCG, Unique Graphic.;)

Thanks for your response........
I live in a State where Auto open is off limits.......
Have so many Benchmades, my head hurts. Brous seems to be a little heavy for EDC
Especially the Strife. I have tried carrying right handed. 0770 is nice, but, prefer a longer
blade length. Appreciate your input. I just bought the Griptilian 551-1701 from DLT What a
great folder. Carbon fiber Scales, and M 390 steel very nice. I recommend it

Does anyone know if the CRK Wilson Combat versions are well made
I have bought their .45 CQB and was blown away, but this is not a
Handgun Forum. Thanks

I, too, am a lefty. I owned a CRK lefty Umnumzaan for a number of years before having to part with it under unfortunate circumstances. It was a fantastic knife well worth the price. I say if you can swing it, give it a shot. If it's not your cup of tea you can always sell it and likely get near what you paid for it.

In terms of other manufacturers/makers, my only stipulation is that the pocket clip can be moved to the left side when carrying tip up in my left pocket. It's becoming more of a thing but some manufacturers don't offer the option. I guess there is an argument that it makes the presentation side not as aesthetically pleasing but that's not really my concern when buying an EDC knife. But I often catch myself seeing something a new model online or in a catalog and thinking, "oh that looks like a good, practical EDC kni... oh. wait nevermind, it's right hand carry clip only... forget it." Boker is the first that comes to mind. Most of the other manufacturers are pretty good about it. I have numerous Spydercos and Benchmades that are all lefty friendly or full ambi. Just having the moveable clip is all I need. More right hand friendly locks, like traditional liner lock or frame locks I can easily manipulate with my left hand. I just need to be able to move the clip.

...just the clip.

I'm a lefty and have a lefty small Sebenza. I also have a right handed small Sebenza. Overall the Sebenza is a fantastic knife with excellent tolerances. Is it worth that amount of money, it depends on your perspective. It's a fine knife, one of the best, but it really isn't "better" than my Spyderco knives. Both perform exactly as knives should. They cut things and stay sharp. When they dull, they sharpen and hold an edge.

The fact that CRK offers lefty knives without a mark up makes it a slam dunk if you want a Sebenza. As a lefty however, a lefty is a nice to have, but it isn't a must have. Just my experience of course, we left handed peop,e are great at adapting in a right handed world.

only you could decide if it's worth it to you. So you gotta find a way to handle a lefty model.
I personally think it's not worth it because closing a knife as a lefty is something you easily get used to, and because I don't think you should have to pay extra.
I think the right thing for every company to do as a courtesy to lefties is to just eat the cost and sell left handed knives for standard pricing.
You consider being a lefty a curse ? That's just wrong, but it's not your fault. It's the right handed world always trying to make us lefties feel inferior :D:D

As a lefty, I was stuck using a lot of right only knives back in the 90's and early 2000's. Even to this day I own a few knives that aren't lefty friendly. I don't mind having to pull it out of my left pocket and flip it around to open it, or even using two hands if it is a really nice knife that I enjoy carrying. That said, I usually only buy knives with ambi carry options. I wouldn't pay the extra price to get a CRK in a lefty configuration, I'd just get a regular one and have to deal with the second or two longer deployment method. Just like when I was in the Navy and they didn't have any lefty holsters for duty, I just kept the thought in my head I'd have to draw and transition hands.

What CRK knives cost more in left-handed? The small Inkosi I bought cost the same either way. To answer the question, yes CRK is worth the money. I've gotten rid of my Benchmades, Hinderers, etc. etc. since getting my little Inkosi. I don't miss any of the others one bit. I do still have my lefty Spyderco PM2, but it just sits on my desk as my Inkosi gets all the love.

I no longer buy from any manufacturers that don't make knives specifically for lefties. I don't even mess with ambidextrous designs. To each their own, but I can't possibly afford all of the knives I want so I figure I ought to support the ones from makers that are willing to go out of their way to make knives specifically for us.

Perhaps not a direct reply to the question you posed, but Emerson used to make limited runs of its CQC-7 and Mini CQC-7. You might inquire.

Hello!

Being left handed and the resultant dislike for titanium liner locks has keep me out of the poor house.

Lefty here.

Never knew whether it'd be worth the money. But since I acquired a lefty Spyderco Military for a good price...that has me pondering the lefty Sebenza/Umumnumnumnumnzaan.

It's very nice to be able to close a liner/framelock the way the designers prefer.

Ironically, all the CRK knives I've ever seen in person that isn't a Mnandi are all left handed.
