Why doesn't Spyderco make it a standard feature to have convertable clips on "ALL" their lockbacks for us lefties. There are several models I would like but won't purchase because the clip isn't lefty friendly. This is especially true on their stainless handle models. One would think the increased sales would more than cover the minimal increased production costs to do this.

I'm a lefty, so I know how you feel. I do think, however, that Spyderco does better than most companies at providing true ambidextrous use. I suspect that they do make them ambi whenever there isn't a manufacturing cost involved. Even a nominal cost, however, can't be made up by lefty sales - there really aren't enough of us. Thankfully, they do occasionally make lefty knives, and they may be one of only 2 or 3 manufacturers doing that these days. I say 2 or 3, but the only other one that I'm aware of is Benchmade.

I think one of the problems is that the barrel screw assembly used on the convertible FRN knives has gotten some complaints about loosening up easily, not being overly reliable. Personaly I haven't found this to be a serious problem and I carry left and right hand spydercos but I do find myself having to tighten those screws more often then I would otherwise. On the higher end knives I assume its more a matter of production costs, though isn't the yojimbo ambi?
