Is there any such hope?? I'm a southpaw lusting over the techno, and a true lefty version of the knife would be awesome.

I haven't seen anything about a lefty Techno, but when the topic of a lefty Southard came up a few years back, Sal said they would have to do a run of at least 1200. I would assume the same applies to the Techno. Unfortunately, a lefty Southard never happened and I've heard a lot more noise about that than a lefty Techno.

Signed,
another southpaw (currently carrying a S110V Native 5 - backlock is old school but at least it's ambidextrous)

Actually the current Techno is awesome lefty! You can easily middle-finger flick it, which cannot be done right-handed. :)

Picked up a Techno hoping this would be the case. I was pretty disappointed to be honest, which was too bad because the Techno is awesome and I would love to have kept ahold of it.

I'm not sure I follow...? What were you hoping would be the case?

Might depend on how strong your lust for one is.

As others have said, the chances of Spyderco ever offering a left hand version are slim to none. However, since the Techno is a collaboration model based on a custom knife, there's always the option of contacting the knifemaker who designed it, Marcin Slysz, and inquiring about the possibility and cost of having him make you a custom left handed Techno.

I think it would be really cool if Spyderco started a new tradition of having a left handed sprint runs of popular models. Maybe 2 or three a year. I'm sure there's enough of us southpaws out there to work, in fact I bet it would be a huge success.

As long as they give a heads up as with other sprint runs, it would generate a lot of interest. Kind of like, "grab it while you can". It think it's important to keep pricing near what the righty versions cost. I wouldn't mind paying a $20 or $30 dollar premium, but not more if it is the same materials as the righty version.

I believe Marcin's version is called the Mouse, but I don't think he is accepting orders at this time.

I was hoping that I could middle finger flick the Techno open with some degree of reliability. I couldn't. It's just too small to easily open and close left-handed.

Ah I gotcha. I like to practice ambidextrous operation and I can handle the Techno left handed without much issue. Middle finger flick is like instinct now.

A left hand version of models with handed locks requires complete new tooling and at least some R&D work. That expense would be difficult enough to recoup on a left hand version of something like the PM2 in regular production, impossible on Sprint Runs of models that, while "popular" among the forum cognoscenti, are by no means popular outside that niche.

Unfortunately I think the chances of a LH Techno or any other LH specific knife from Spyderco is slim to none. They have graced us with a full LH Millie but I do not really think it sold that well for then and/or was a money maker. Of late it is hard enough to just get a LH clip option (sadly missing on the Southard & Rubicon among many other collaboration models) much less a full blown LH version.

I'll pull for just more reversable pocket clips :D & be happy
