One of the rewards of custom knife collecting is the opportunity to participate directly in important moments in a maker's career. An outcome of a number of discussions I had with Mastersmith John White, over the course of several knives he made for me ,was his decision to issue a limited series of five, numbered, heirloom knives.

These five Legacy Series knives will feature the finest materials, showcase his level of design and skill, and serve as a venue for collaboration with fellow artists sharing his desire to commemorate the art of the knife.

Here is #1 of John White's Legacy Series: Commissioned by Paul Kessler..a knife stripped to the essence; bold Explosion Damascus, matched Chevron-cut Pre-Ban Elephant Ivory scales, gold-inlayed deep engraving by Joe Mason, with photo by Coop.

Each knife of the Legacy Series will be unique to itself, and will come with a Certificate of Documentation. As this appears, another collector has commissioned#2 in this series, to be produced in the Spring of 2010.

Legacy Series #1 will debut at the ACKA Show in Little Rock this month.

:eek::eek: That damascus is outstanding as is everything about that knife. The pommel treatment really brings everything together.

Thanks for showing it.

Exquisite piece, John..!

Congrats to you both.

Not only the finest I have seen of John's knives, but one of the finest period.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

The engraved/inlayed damascus is awesome.

Wow Paul!!!
That knife is definitely greater than the sum of its parts. I'm sure glad you had shown me some of its parts! I almost didn't recognize them:o
I really appreciate you keeping me in the loop, my friend:)

Paul,

That's a spectaular knife! Great execution and materials by John White. Joe Mason's engraving is like frosting on the cake. Coop's photos really highlight this knife. I know that you are very happy to have such a beautiful package.
