My Grandfather, a WW2 veteran, gave me my first knife when I was maybe 7 or 8. Just some cheap lock back knock off. However, it meant the world to me and I had always kept it but as I got older tossed it in some tool tray in the garage and forgot about it. Recently cleaning out the garage clutter I found it, and it brought back so many memories - fishing, hiking listening to his stories, but the knife was in really bad shape as you can imagine. Beyond hope it broke my heart to toss it but then it got me thinking about knives and maybe passing my own off some day. Not much of a story of course, I’m sure many of you have better stories to tell. Would love to hear them.

I have one knife from my grandfather. For some time, I used it as my only kitchen knife, now it resides in a drawer. I had two pocketknives that belonged to my father that he had abused horribly. I didn't see fit to keep them. He was a conflicted man and the broken pocketknives were symbolic of him in a way. It's better to not keep that kind of thing around.

My cousin still has his father's Buck 110 from earlier than 1970. He uses it to dress two deer each season and then replaces it in its resting place. That's pretty damned cool, if you ask me.
