Legal disposal of swords

When I was little and didn't know better, I built quite a collection of those cheap, stupid stainless steel swords. It's not worth it to try to sell them, but I can't hold onto them any longer with all the space they're taking up.

What's the best way to deal with this? Taking them to a recycling center? Selling to a scrapyard (might be illegal since I'm in NYC)?

Lots of options that go beyond just tossing them in the trash...find out what the cost of freight would be and sell them cheap + freight on the BF Exchange, donate them to a local theater with the warning that they are for "decoration only", donate them to a restaurant or bar as wall hangers, give them to a metal artist as raw material...you could probably take them to a scrap yard, but the cost of getting there would probably exceed their value as scrap.

Well I ground one down for sword swallowing (most SWSWers use the stainless ones).

If all else fails, tig welding practice :) You could always chop them down and make throwing knives too.

Thanks, everyone. I think I'll go with a theater donation. Seems the least contentious and easiest to find.
