Hi. I'm 16 and usally carry this knife with me as a EDC. It has a pocket clip that I just put on my pocket, so it is not concealed. It is an assisted opening. It this legal to carry in Florida?

Thanks.

first, state law doesn't override city and/or county ordinances, when it comes to knives or weapons other than firearms. i know state law pretty well on knives and firearms, but i don't know your city and county ordinances, or neighboring city/county ordinances. so hence i cannot give you good information. i will say this though.......

never ever take legal advice on carrying a knife, weapon, or firearms from internet forum participants. you are a kid, have your parent(s)/legal adult guardians call the local sheriff and/or city police and get the answers there from the source who enforces the law and/or their interpretation of it. or have them consult a weapons lawyer who can give them good legal advice to give to you. sadly the world has changed, and when i was your age we carried fixed blades on our belt, and large folding knives in our back pockets to school and no one was scared, or called the swat team to come at us. be smart and have your parents get good advice for you. it's not worth the risk to not have good advice from the correct sources. the officials don't look the other way like they did when i was a kid growing up in florida. you do not want to ruin your future over carrying a knife.

using a clip to pocket carry is a grey area.....some cops consider it concealed, others open carry. i haven't seen case law, but i'm sure there is something out there on this issue. luckily for you state law defines a common pocket knife as legal to carry in a pocket. very old and weak case law says a 4" folding knife is legal for pocket carry, without a ccw permit. problem is the city/county may have their own restrictions as to where and how long you can carry in your pocket, etc. so like i said above have your legal guardians verify the law for you.

lastly, that knife is all tacticool/fantasy/mallninja style. ya' might want to consider, that if, you are breaking any city/county ordinances?? if a knife like that is really worth the potential trouble....just sayin'.:)
